Vuetech’s Research Presented at the Association of Academic Physiatrists’ Annual Meeting

Updated: Feb 16, 2021

Preliminary results from Vuetech’s first research study were presented this weekend at the Association of Academic Physiatrists (AAP) Annual Meeting! As part of this study, Vuetech’s EVA System analyzed over 29 hours of data from 25 subjects in order to assess EVA’s ability to detect and predict simulated falls from healthy subjects. Data collection took place at the University of Virginia School of Nursing Clinical Simulation & Learning Center.

Nadim Barakat, Vuetech’s Research Coordinator, presented his team’s poster titled ‘A Feasibility Study Assessing a Novel AI Fall Detection System.’ This year, the AAP’s Annual Meeting was completely virtual due to Covid-19. “It was definitely a different experience to have a virtual conference,” says Barakat, “but all the attendees seemed really excited for the work we are doing. The feedback I got was really encouraging.”

Make sure to stay tuned for future research updates from the Vuetech team! We have a lot of exciting research planned for the remainder of 2021.
